Welcome to rentacar-brasov.ro. By using this website and submitting a booking request, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

1. General provisions

The website rentacar-brasov.ro is operated by Olesund SRL, hereinafter referred to as “the Platform Operator”.

Olesund SRL ensures the operation of the online platform and facilitates the transmission of booking requests to authorised partner companies that provide the car rental services, each hereinafter referred to as “the Supplier”.

Submitting a booking request via the website does not constitute confirmation of the booking and does not create an obligation for the Supplier to make a vehicle available.

Vehicle availability is checked exclusively by the Supplier, and the booking is considered confirmed only after its express acceptance by the Supplier.

The rental contract is concluded exclusively between the customer and the Supplier that provides the vehicle. The Supplier's identification details are stated in the rental contract, concluded when the vehicle is collected. Olesund SRL is not the owner of the vehicles presented on the platform and is not a party to the rental contract.

2. Eligibility conditions

In order to rent a vehicle, the person driving it must hold a valid driving licence for the relevant category and meet the minimum age and licence-holding requirements set by the Supplier.

The customer must present a valid identity document and be listed in the rental contract.

3. Use of the vehicle

Vehicles may be used exclusively within the territory of Romania. Taking the car out of the country (to countries such as Bulgaria, Hungary, etc.) is prohibited. Any journey outside the borders constitutes a direct breach of the rental conditions.

Throughout the rental period, the renter is obliged to comply with the road traffic legislation in force and to use the vehicle exclusively for lawful purposes and in accordance with its intended use.

The following are prohibited:

  • allowing the vehicle to be driven by unauthorised persons or persons not listed in the contract;
  • subletting the vehicle;
  • using the vehicle in motorsport competitions, vehicle tests, off-road activities or other activities that may lead to its damage;
  • driving under the influence of alcohol, prohibited substances or medication that affects the ability to drive.

The platform offers services intended exclusively for the rental of cars and minibuses for passenger transport. Requests for funeral transport (coffins), grain, heavy goods, house moves, towing or other special goods or animal transport services are strictly excluded.

The renter is obliged to use the vehicle with the diligence of a prudent owner and to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Included kilometres. The rate includes 300 km for a 1-day rental and 200 km per day for rentals of 2 days or more, calculated as an average over the entire rental period (for example, 7 days = 1,400 km). Kilometres driven in excess of the total included are charged on return at €0.10/km for economy and compact cars, €0.15/km for SUVs and business cars and €0.20/km for minibuses. Excess mileage of up to 20 km is not charged.

4. Technical condition and maintenance

The Supplier is obliged to hand over the vehicle in good working order, together with the documents and equipment necessary for its use.

During the rental, the renter is obliged to inform the Supplier immediately if any dashboard warnings, faults or other technical problems appear.

Carrying out any repairs without the Supplier's prior consent is prohibited.

5. Handover and return of the vehicle

Vehicles are collected and returned exclusively within the city of Brașov and at Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport (GHV). We do not offer delivery, drop-off or relocation services in other cities (such as Sibiu, Bucharest, Cluj, etc.).

At the end of the rental period, the customer is obliged to return the vehicle on the agreed date and at the agreed time, together with all related documents, keys and accessories.

The rental duration is calculated in 24-hour periods, starting from the time of collection. Returning the vehicle after the time set in the booking is charged as an additional rental day, according to the applicable rate.

Any damage or missing items found on return will be settled in accordance with the rental contract.

6. Accidents, damage and theft

In the event of an accident, damage or theft of the vehicle, the renter is obliged to inform the Supplier immediately and to follow its instructions.

The customer will contact the competent authorities when the situation requires it and will provide the Supplier with all the documents necessary to settle the claim.

After any incident, the customer remains at the scene and notifies the Supplier, as well as the Police, within 3 hours at most.

For each road traffic incident (accident), a fee of €100 is payable for opening and handling the claim file with the insurer and the other parties involved. The fee is not charged if the accident was caused exclusively by the fault of another driver and the customer provides the joint accident report (constatare amiabilă) or the police report.

Important: payment of this fee does not replace the legal formalities. The customer must still send the Supplier a full description of the incident and, as the case may be, complete the joint accident report (constatare amiabilă) or obtain the police report and the repair authorisation from the Police.

7. Zero-excess CASCO insurance

All cars are covered by zero-excess CASCO (SCDW). The term “Full CASCO” is not used, as it may give the impression that the insurance covers everything, regardless of how the car is used. In reality, it protects the customer in the event of traffic accidents, but does not cover damage caused by gross negligence or intentionally.

For a covered event, the only cost for the customer is the €100 claim-handling fee.

When insurance protection is lost

The customer bears the full cost of the damage, and the CASCO insurance (SCDW) no longer applies, if:

  • the car is driven off public roads: on unmade roads, on trails or in areas where traffic is prohibited, or on road sections that endanger the integrity of the car;
  • the customer leaves the scene of the accident or fails to notify the Supplier and the Police within 3 hours;
  • the driver is a person not listed in the contract as a driver (main or additional);
  • the damage is due to incorrect, abusive or negligent use of the car, including damage to the tyres or the interior (upholstery, dashboard, seat covers).

What remains outside the CASCO insurance

Even with zero excess, the customer pays in full for repairs or technical interventions when these result from negligence or improper use, for example:

  • components not covered: cut or deformed tyres, damage to the underside of the car (for instance after driving through rough or prohibited places), damage to the interior, clutch failure due to misuse;
  • serious breaches of the law: driving after consuming alcohol, leaving the scene of the accident, failing to notify the Police;
  • negligent use: running out of fuel or AdBlue, filling up with the wrong type of fuel, driving on forest, unmade or flooded roads.

When the incident is not covered by the insurance (negligence, abusive use, breach of the law), the customer bears the full value of the damage. If the car can no longer be driven, transporting it on a recovery truck to the Supplier's premises is also at the customer's expense.

8. Fines and additional costs

The renter is fully liable for all fines, road tolls, parking charges and any other costs arising from the use of the vehicle during the rental period.

The customer may be required to bear the costs resulting from damage to the vehicle or from failure to comply with the obligations set out in the rental contract.

Traffic or parking fines received during the rental are paid by the customer. If the fine is paid on the spot, directly to the issuing officer, nothing extra is charged. The administration fee of €50 applies only when the fine remains unresolved and the Police officially request the customer's details from the Supplier in order to issue the police report in the customer's name.

9. Fees for situations caused by negligence

  • Lost key: the customer pays the official dealership's invoice for a new key and its programming, plus transport and organisation costs.
  • Lost vehicle documents: €100, for the time and fees required to obtain duplicates.
  • Wrong fuel: the customer bears all costs – towing, draining the tank, cleaning the fuel system and any engine repairs. This situation is not covered by the CASCO insurance (SCDW).
  • Damaged or lost optional accessories (seat covers, cables, child seats, etc.): the full value of the item is payable.
  • Cleaning: standard sanitising is included in the rate; if the car is returned very dirty or smelling of smoke, a cleaning fee of €50 for cars and €80 for SUVs and minibuses is charged.

In short: fees that may apply

Handling of the claim file (accident)100 €
Handling of a fine not resolved by the customer50 €
Lost vehicle documents100 €
Cleaning: excessive dirt or smell of smoke€50 / €80 (SUV, minibus)
Lost key, wrong fuel, accessoriesactual cost

10. Security deposit

No security deposit is required and no amount is blocked on a card for drivers aged over 25 with a driving licence held for at least 3 years. For drivers under 25 or with a licence held for less than 3 years, a security deposit applies; it is set by the Supplier according to the car and the rental period and communicated to the customer before the booking is confirmed.

The absence of a security deposit does not release the customer from liability in situations excluded from the insurance, in the event of improper use of the vehicle or of breach of the obligations set out in the rental contract.

11. Booking request and confirmation

Submitting the booking form via the website constitutes a booking request.

Once received, the request is forwarded to the Supplier, which checks the availability of the vehicle and may request additional information before confirming the booking.

The booking is considered confirmed only after the Supplier has expressly communicated the confirmation.

The conditions regarding rates, security deposits, cancellations, booking changes and any refunds are set by the Supplier and will be communicated to the customer before the rental contract is concluded.

12. Limitation of liability

Olesund SRL is liable exclusively for the administration and operation of the online platform and for forwarding booking requests to the Supplier.

Olesund SRL is not liable for:

  • the availability of vehicles;
  • the confirmation or refusal of bookings;
  • the performance of the rental contract;
  • the technical condition of vehicles;
  • the handover and return of vehicles;
  • security deposits, insurance or other obligations assumed by the Supplier.

Responsibility for providing the car rental service lies exclusively with the Supplier that provides the vehicle.

13. Dispute resolution

Any disagreement will be resolved amicably as a priority.

Disputes arising from the performance of the rental contract will be resolved in accordance with the provisions of the contract concluded between the customer and the Supplier.

Disputes regarding the use of the website or the operation of the platform will be resolved in accordance with the Romanian legislation in force.
